How might we develop financially literate students who gain a new respect for and resilience towards all matter’s money?
After a Covid hit second Face 2 Face, I am looking forward to gathering with professional minds and taking my action plan to a much more detailed stage at our 3rd Face 2 Face. I am looking forward to working with Justin, Garth, Lisa and the team to share knowledge, thought, and experiences at dealing with financial literacy in schools.
I am also keen to share my progress thus far in a school led math action research that aligns to this Cohort 21 action plan, where I am tweaking and developing a programme that allows students to use and learn about financial literacy matters.
This action research has a Grade 5 lens on it this year, but I am keen to broaden this action research over the next year, creating a 3-year plan to implement it in Grade 5, then Grade 4, and then lower in the school. I also aim to work with Math leads in our Prep School to work on a way to carry on the steps when students enter Grade 6.
Finally, having missed the 2nd Face 2 Face, thanks Covid, I am keen to see if I can refine my ‘How might we’ question further and create specific focusses, with the aim of sharing progress to my school in June or August PD.
Gareth, great post! I’d love to talk to you more about what you are doing with financial literacy matters. I certainly see the value in talking to students about math resilience. I hope all is well on your end. Looking forward to catching up on Friday!
Looking forward to connecting with you next week Gareth! I hope all is well and I look forward to chatting about your teacher band.
Hi Michael,
Looking forward to connecting on Friday. The teacher band is going viral! Ha! See you at UCC
