1) What was the process like in coming up with your HMW question? Where did you land? Share your first attempt so we can see where your action plan is headed.
I really enjoyed this process during our second face-to-face session. In particular, I thought The Power of a Good Question template that was shared with participants was a clear, easy-to-follow guide for creating my HMW question. While I believe there were many lines of action worth pursuing, I kept coming back to wellness for all stakeholders within education. Here is my first attempt at my HMW: optimize motivation and engagement through wellness programming for our students and staff.
2) Who should you talk to next to help guide your inquiry? In order to answer your HWM question, what voices and perspectives need to be consulted? What did you learn when you talked to them?
I think there are a number of stakeholders who need to be included in this inquiry. My current teaching team, Head of Teaching and Learning at our school, and students were the three key voices and perspectives that I felt needed to be consulted for this inquiry. In order to successfully optimize motivation and engagement through wellness programming, I believe it is important to know where staff is at in regards to their own wellness and what is working for students already. If there are activities and programs that are not working at this time, it may be beneficial to stop doing them and find alternative solutions. My teaching team is very interested in promoting engaging and meaningful wellness experiences. I feel lucky to share in their ideas and concerns for this line of action.
3) Why are you engaging in this line of action and inquiry? What important unmet need sits central to your question?
Our recent pivot back to remote learning and the unpredictability of our current teaching climate is one of the major reasons why I wanted to engage in this line of action and inquiry. The important need that remains unmet is that we continue to face unprecedented pivots and adjustments to learning and I am well aware of the impact this has on all stakeholders. More than ever, wellness must not be a buzzword or trend, but a serious focus that is written into all curriculums across the world.

@mblack There could not be a better moment in time than to center an action plan around the intersection of motivation and wellness. I linked to a search below of all of the Cohort 21 action plans that surface the two words. It might be a helpful jumpoff to support your question and Action Plan. @nblair @jgravel @emartin @hjepson @lmiller will certainly have more ideas and suggestions.
