It has been nice to take part of March Break to reflect on the year that seems to be flying by, as they all do, but this year even more so. I’ve had a chance to read, listen, meet and talk with other educators and it has been inspiring. Some highlights:
- Listening & Learning from the amazing people at the Downie + Wenjack Fund
- I have been struggling for years (decades) on how to authentically learn and teach about history with our Indigenous peoples. This past year I signed up for the Legacy Schools programmed offered by the Downie + Wenjack Fund. They provided so many amazing resources, links, connections to people as well as being responsive to my questions and queries
- Lisa & Sabrina were so kind with their time, stories and ideas that I’m still unpacking it all and what this looks like for me as a educator and how I can continue to learn and discuss and question, but in the end listen
- talking and learning from @ckirsh
- You know when you listen to someone and you can just keep listening and time gets lost? I’ve been listening to Celeste’s podcasts for quite some time, and was lucky enough to be connected through a colleague (thanks @adamcaplan!)
- I learned so much – listening, discussing curriculum, podcasts, how to build relationships with various educators + people – so much
- IF by chance you haven’t checked out Teaching Tomorrow – do yourself a favour. I have so many favourites but in particular Episode 51: Curriculum as a vehicle for change with Dr. Rob Simon
More to share in another post I think.
Note to self – press publish when you actually write this (March 25th – posted April 9th!?)
