Last night, C21 coaches we were taken through a Values Exercise with Garth Nichols (@gnichols) and Graham Vogt (@gvogt):
“You are the average of the 5 people that you spend the most time with.”
We made a list of the 5 people, and then I used Brene Brown’s – Dare to Lead, List of Values (there was another list you could use, but I still need to wrap my mind around how to use it)
At first I wasn’t sure how to start and what to connect to certain people, but suddenly words starting flying off the list. My partner, my kids and my department/coaching mates came up as the top 5. It was an impactful exercise that really had me consider – what values do I align with? What values do I align with but may not be that strong at? What values are complementary to my own?
It also made me think about what values might the people have that I would like to work with more or connect with? I’m not sure about this one yet, but I wanted to share the exercise – if you try it, I’d love to hear about it!
