Re-thinking learning for the 21st Century

About Me

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog. This is an educational blog written and edited by me, Jennifer Bairos.  I’m a middle school core French teacher in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It may not be for everyone, but I sincerely love spending my day with 13-year-olds!

When I was on maternity leave, I started to follow a few blogs and loved hearing the voices of these women sharing their tips, tricks, and thoughts on motherhood. I was, and continue to be, inspired by these women and wanted to join them by sharing my experiences with others too. And so, my personal blog, A Splendid Messy Life, was born. For over five years, I’ve written about all things connected to my two passions outside of school: motherhood and reading. You can also find some of my published writing in the anthologies The Unofficial Guide to Surviving Life With Boys and The Unofficial Guide to Surviving Pregnancy Without Losing Your Mind.

This year, I’ve been challenged by Cohort 21 to begin a teaching blog. I know the power of blogging as a reflection tool in my personal life, and I look forward to using it in my teaching life as well. On this page, I hope to share our classroom wins (and maybe some fails!) and ideas that may work for others along with my own questions about education.

If you have questions or comments, free to reach out to me at [email protected] .

Thanks for visiting!

I’ve been looking for more information about gender inclusive language in French for some time! Today I found your blog; I’ve been reading your blog and found your resources and links to useful information so helpful.

    Thank you!
