Dear Cohort 21

We hope this post finds you well, rested, and recharged for the coming school year. As a CIS Ontario educator, we know that you have spent the past week reacclimatizing to your return to school routines and participating in a dizzying number of meetings to prepare for the fall. Welcome back! The last two school years have been unlike any other in the history of K-12 education. As educators, we have experienced disruptive social, technological, and pedagogical change at a pace and depth that we are now starting to feel the impact of.

With much of the same uncertainty still present for the coming academic year, we NEED communities like Cohort 21 now more than ever. Professional Learning communities provide safe spaces to ask questions, find answers and surround oneself with positive energy to refuel and share back with colleagues, schools, and students.

As alumni of Cohort 21, you have experienced this impact first hand and as we enter our tenth season we invite you to re-engage with our community and share your energy, wisdom, and skills so we can navigate the coming academic/pandemic year together.

For obvious reasons, we will be starting Season 10 through a remote format. Should we be able to take advantage of face-to-face engagement we will but for now we will plan for a remote learning experience. We thrived last year and delivered super engaging facilitation. This year will be more the same and organized around the following four urgent themes:

In celebration of 10 years of professional growth, inquiry, and action we are re-engaging with our alumni and providing four ways you can reconnect with us.

  1. Encourage a colleague to join Season 10!  – We invite you to forward this email to a colleague and encourage them to register for season 10. Who in your sphere of influence might benefit from this type of professional growth experience? Registration is now open for individuals and school teams to apply. Click here to register

  2. Re-engage with your Cohort 21 blog, Twitter or Instagram
Our blog network and socials are rich resources through which to share and collaborate. By posting to your blog or #cohort21 you can engage with the Cohort 21 network and tap into our amazing network of educators. Don’t forget to retweet!

  3. Participate in one of our “Looking back to look ahead” events that will form part of our 10-year anniversary celebrations! Keep an eye out for season-specific zoom panel discussion where we invite alumni from each season to share their learnings and experience being a teacher now and then

  4. Subscribe to the “Teaching Tomorrow” podcast – Join amazing CIS educator Celeste Kirsh as she interviews interesting thought leaders and special guests who share important insights and perspectives about the state and future of education.

Please join us in celebrating 10 years of helping us build and grow this amazing professional learning community. Your participation will ensure we can further our mission to: “build a community of passionate CIS Ontario educators who are interested in refining and redesigning their practice through the exploration of new pedagogies, ideas, and tools.”
