The mission of this professional development initiative is to build a community of passionate CIS Ontario educators who are interested in refining and redesigning their practice through the exploration of new pedagogies, ideas and learning tools. If this sounds like something that appeals to you then please take a moment to review this infographic before moving on with the registration process.Cohort 21 is not your typical professional development. It is a highly personalized learning experience supported by an active community of educators. Being a member of Cohort 21 means committing to a year long process of professional growth and inquiry. The Cohort 21 experience is facilitated through four face to face sessions that are interconnected through rich online collaboration and dialogue. Using social media tools (Twitter,Google+, your own Cohort 21 Blog) and a Design Thinking framework you will connect and engage in a year long personalized action plan. This structured inquiry into the refinement of your practice will hopefully yield a valuable professional learning experience. But don’t take our word for it. Beyond just showing up physically; Cohort 21 is about committing to pushing your practice and professional thinking in new directions. It is about making the time to DO & TRY something new.
Cohort 21 is uniquely set up to support you in this as a highly engaged team of CIS Ontario facilitators and coaches will be on hand throughout the year to help you in your Action Plan process. All that we expect is that you bring with you a “Growth Mindset” and the willingness to trust the process. Committing to Cohort 21 (2017-2018) also means committing to at least one Twitter Chat and Google Hangout between these face-to-face sessions. These will be offered throughout the year at various times to suit your availability.
By filling out the fields below you are agreeing to the above dates and expectation and have been approved by your Curriculum Leader and/or Head of School to join Cohort 21 for the 2017-2018 academic year. You and your direct supervisor also understand that the cost of this professional development is $750 which will be billed to your school in October 2017 by CIS Ontario.
Throughout the Cohort 21 experience participants will:

Engage in a year long “Action Plan” enabled by design thinking and supported by the cohort..

Actively reflect on their practices while taking part in a larger, meaningful discussion about the future of teaching and learning

Be reading, writing, and reflecting about teaching and learning though their Cohort 21 blog.

Become attuned to their schools mission statement and how it relates to the 21st century

Be a part of a highly motivated cohort of learners who will continue to critically assess their teaching in terms of student success
Cohort 21 brings together passionate teachers from all across Ontario and exposes them to a rich professional learning experience. The end result is a inter-school professional learning network built on a foundation of collaboration and innovation. Cohort 21 is not limited by grade or discipline; but rather embraces the possibility of interaction between division levels and experiences in education.
