Teaching Philosophy & Bio

Our greatest challenge as educators is to create confident, critically thinking, active global citizens. My role starts with creating a learning environment that will nurture students’ hearts and builds their confidence so that rich learning experiences can take place. At every grade, age or stage, students need to understand how they learn best and work from their strength. They need to be taught and given ample time to practise the skills they need and then, be given the chance to apply what they know and can do to real-life situations. This belief system lies somewhere between a ‘critical thinking approach’ and ’21st Century Learning,’ and is the one I have been practising throughout my career.

This philosophy has motivated several job choices in my career including classroom teaching, guidance and career education, curriculum writing and teacher professional development.
