Teaching Philosophy & Bio

I am an innovative, experienced leader and educator with a demonstrated history of working in the public and independent PK-12 education sector in both Canada and the U.S. I am passionate about creating spaces where people feel valued and a sense of belonging. At the heart of this work is engaging with like-minded educators to nurture the characteristics of a vibrant learning community. Learning alongside colleagues, we become stronger together as we move along our learning journeys.

My professional strengths are Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, Innovation, Curriculum Design and Assessment, Mentoring, and Community Outreach. I have created context-specific curriculum and assessment focusing on student goal setting to heighten self-efficacy, persistence and resilience. Working alongside gifted colleagues, integrated cross-curricular experiences that enhance learning beyond subject specific classes have flourished. In these stimulating classroom settings, students find their strengths, learn to work through challenges, and find their place both within and  beyond the classroom.
