The Adviser Role…

Sir Ken Robinson‘s interview at The Blue School is one to watch. I have found that it speaks strongly to the role that the Adviser plays in personalized learning at Greenwood. In it, Sir Ken Robinson speaks of knowing the students, when to push and challenge, and when to calm and support. He likens master teachers to virtuosi, like a violinist or athlete, who knows what to do, when to do, but is also highly adaptable to different conditions and needs of their students.

This is a video that I am going to share with my Adviser-leaders to reinforce the great work that they are doing, and to motivate them in continuing to know their advisees. It is important work that we are doing now, and it has the potential to have a lasting impact on their lives in obvious, subtle and unconscious ways…
