Hello – thanks for stopping in!
I am currently in my third year of teaching at Ridley College and my second year of teaching in the Intermediate Division. I teach Gr. 7 geography, Gr. 8 geography, Gr. 8 mathematics, and Gr. 8 English.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in 2010 at the University of Western Ontario, where I completed an Honours Specialization in Social Justice and Peace Studies. In 2011, I earned my Bachelor of Education degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto, in the Junior/Intermediate Division. Since graduating from OISE, I have successfully completed ESL Part 1 and Special Education Part 1 AQ courses, as well as a Senior Law ABQ course. I am a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers.
Presently, I am candidate for a Master of Education – International Education degree through the Van Loan School of Graduate and Professional Studies at Endicott College, MA, USA. This program blends online coursework with face-to-face classes (during the summer months) at independent, IB schools in Europe.
I am the faculty supervisor for Ridley College Lower School’s Me to We Club. I know that children have a tremendous capacity to create positive social change.
Finally, I am a firm believer in Nelson Mandela’s claim, “Education in the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” I have a special interest in service / experiential learning and international education.
Hi Allison,
Was trying to find a way to connect with you off twitter! Primarily because, I was going to share news with you that I have not shared my network. I am moving to Berlin and returning to international education.
You mentioned you were moving to Toronto this September. Was wondering when and if timing lined up to grab a coffee. Would love to hear about your Leysin experience and educational aspirations! Anyway, you have my email now. I found this through your twitter bio.
