Question 1:
I joined Cohort 21 so I can better myself as an educator and gain inspiration from others. I want to ensure that I am growing, learning and developing better practices for my students as the world changes rapidly around us.
I’m still unsure of where my path will lead me and which goal I would like to dive deeper into. As of right now I’m thinking of how to incorporate more literature and a love of reading into the classroom. I want the students to be excited to read, not just the pop culture books, but different genres that they may not necessarily try.
Question 2:
The Season 11 Strand that most resonates with me is the DEIJ strand. It is urgent that as a community we address the importance of diversity and inclusion in our schools. We need to ensure that equity and justice are present for our students so that they may feel safe and welcomed.
So glad you joined Cohort 21! Looking forward to your posts.
@msantos The DEIJ strand is a great and fertile place to develop your action plan goal and focus. All our school are leaning into this space. Small changes to your practice / planning and resource selection can have immediate and noticeable impacts. I highly recommend this resource as starting place – https://www.newamerica.org/education-policy/reports/culturally-responsive-teaching/teacher-competencies-that-promote-culturally-responsive-teaching/
