The end of the beginning…. how can it be done…already

I feel odd writing/ making a final action plan post. I am closer to the beginning of my action plan than the end. But we have been asked to reflect on where we are, and so I will leave this here…

  1. Melissa,
Thanks for the excellent use of images and visuals to convey your journey. It made the excellent work that you do that much more clear – thanks!

In terms of next steps, please reach out to @lmcbeth as she runs some great courses that use agriculture – perhaps you could team up there? Also, I know that Grade 11 and 12 Biology has a unit on plants that could make for some excellent cross-grade work.

I’m going to take this to our own teachers in the Prep school and see if we can’t leverage our rooftop patio in the same way 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!
    garth.

  2. Amazing! And I love what you did with your action plan. I hear what you are saying about how difficult it is to communicate all the learning that goes on to people who are outside of the experience itself. I have that same conundrum and I haven’t found a good way to do it! Maybe your class garden can become a community project with other grades and teachers and even parents taking part? Maybe the only way for others to know what goes on is for them to experience it themselves? If you come up with any brilliant ideas, let me know 😉

  3. Seriously… I am so blown away by your reflection that I don’t have much to comment. Except that I loved it. 🙂

We’ll have to connect on Friday to talk about strategies for the long game. Your level of engagement won’t go unnoticed and will certainly interest others in your community. I look forward to chatting about ideas for next year and beyond!

  4. What a creative way to reflect on your action plan! I have really enjoyed how well you kept up with blogging and documenting your process. It’s great to focus on the challenges as well as the successes which you did really well.

Your effort and dedication to C21 is greatly appreciated and thanks for taking the time to put together an amazing visual and an engaging reflection of your experience. So many future C21 participants will benefit from this example.

You should also touch base with @mikearsenault and @timrollwagen who teach biology and could help work out the cross curricular links that @gnichols mentioned previously.

Looking forward to hearing more details on your action plan on Friday!

  5. This is an excellent review of your action plan. Inspired, engaged, and more importantly, ongoing. I’m going to share this with some of our Lower School teachers at Ridley who have been working on a similar project. Our next goal is eventually build a greenhouse! If you’re interested in connecting with one of these teachers, let me know and I will make introductions.

    1. Thank you! A greenhouse! How wonderful, I would love to know about their process and how they are working to make it happen. Yes please to introductions and sharing!
