Sharing our photos with the world.

It’s been a while since I last posted, and that is because there has been a lot going on! Schools get so busy in the final two weeks before the winter holidays, don’t they? If you haven’t yet done so, please do some square breathing: breathe in deeply for a two count, hold it for a two count, exhale for a two count, hold that for a two count, and repeat as needed to relax. Now you see why it’s called square breathing and hopefully you are already feeling its calming effects.

If you read my blog you may remember my mention of a photography club (blog post). This is a Rosseau Lake College winter club which meets two times a week for one hour at a time. RLC’s Spring Arts Fest is our club’s main target for a display of work, but we decided that we had enough great photos to submit a few panels to RLC’s Winter Arts Fest (see images, above). RLC photographers have been snapping photos of a variety of subjects, mostly related to my four challenge prompts ( 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 ) and I wanted the Winter Arts Fest audience to be able to dig deeper, so I employed QR codes (Unitag link).

If you click on any of the above images, zoom in, and hold your open iPhone camera app over a QR code a pop-up banner should prompt you to go to a web page. These web pages are mostly each student’s photography club subpage on their ePortfolio website. In some cases, they link directly to the student’s public photography-specific Instagram handle. If you are struggling with the technology and you still want to play along, you can hold your open iPhone camera app over the below QR code to link directly to Capturing Creativity’s shared Instagram profile for a selection of photos by every member of the club. If you Insta regularly, be sure to drop them a follow while you are there. With the Spring Arts Fest set to take place in mid-April there will be many more photos to come in the new year. Thanks for reading!

P.S. SnapChat can also be used to read QR codes and this may be the best option on an Android (aside from apps specifically designed for QR code reading). Snap a picture of the QR code and wait for the prompt to open the site.

  1. Hi Leslie,

This is so neat! I love what you’re doing with the photography club and the photos are amazing! I had no idea that you could use QR codes in this way. Now it has me thinking about the ways I can use these in my classes.

    Thanks for sharing! 🙂
