About Me

About Me
Learning is a part of who I am. It always has been. From a very early age, I was a reader….an avid reader of anything and everything! This love of reading in turn generated a love of learning. Over time, this part of me has not changed as I continue to be inspired by an innate desire to know more about an idea, an event, an individual. I believe that this is why I am a teacher today!

Research is a key part of my learning process. I view research as a puzzle – there are many pieces that all connect together to form a bigger picture. Each piece has a place in the big picture, but that piece is not always easy to find. Researching the next steps in my teaching and learning practices is also a puzzle. I know there are curriculum pieces that I will explore and evaluate, working to determine if they are the best fit for my students. Similarly, there are also teaching methods that I will examine against this big picture to see if they fit in with the learning styles and needs of my students.

Participation in the Cohort 21 model of professional development is a wonderful opportunity to be a member of a PLC. Working with this group of like-minded members is the perfect setting to collaboratively explore what it means to be a teacher in the 21st century. I believe that this PLC will make a difference in the how and why of what we are teaching. This is exactly why I am thrilled to be a part of this learning community.

Regardless of where my research takes me, the hunt for the puzzle pieces that make the picture complete will be ongoing. These pieces are not always easy to find, but the research is well worth the reward.
