The Flipped Classroom

perfect opportunity for educators to practice their T.V, actor voices…..

What, Why, How?

My action plan will ultimately allow me to develop technological skills that will provide a meaningful learning experience for my students. I will explore the active learning technique and pedagogy of flipping the classroom. Also known as flipped learning, inverted learning.

I found that I can relate to this American teacher in the video below who has a huge variety of levels within one particular class.

Blended learning approach, face to face interaction mixed in with independent study via technology.  Perfect world?

Why should I do it?

Differentiated instruction= the students get the info at their own pace

Maximize one- on-one time in class= work with them in class on their own path to success

  1. Hi Lisa,
Great work thus far on a very interesting and exciting topic. Be sure to check out what one of our facilitator’s, Jen Bibby, has done in the past, and what she is doing now. There are some distinct advantages to flipping in a language classroom for sure.

Thanks for this post, and I’m excited to see where this goes for you,

    garth.

  2. Lisa, awesome action plan! I can’t wait to hear your foreign TV actress voices!! I have read the pros and cons voiced by some teachers who have used this methodology and it is easy to get discouraged. One practical piece of advice shared by a teacher was to avoid experiencing flipped classroom fatigue by easing into the method and not starting off 100% flipped. Begin with an experimental lesson and then move to a flipped lesson every two weeks. As your success and experience grows, you can move to once a week. Mix and match instruction to meet the needs of your students. Many teachers report a hybrid approach is more successful, less stressful and the variety or instructional methods is preferred by students. Buena suerte amiga!
