For example :<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Quelle est la place de la technologie \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9cole?\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Use at least 10 of the vocabulary words from &#8220;Vocabulaire no. 1&#8221; in your response.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This allowed me to give written feedback to students on their oral performance in various areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grammar: <em>Je veux r\u00e9pondez &gt; r\u00e9pondre<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Content: <em>Next time give specific examples to support your claims.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Pronunciation\u00a0: <em>outil (ne prononce pas le &#8216;l&#8217; final)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Vocabulary\u00a0: <em>Attention: b\u00e9n\u00e9fique (pas b\u00e9n\u00e9ficial)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em>The flow of oral activities was generally\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch with an open-ended question (Assessment as Learning)<\/li>\n<li>Flipgrid practice question (AforL)<\/li>\n<li>Peer assessment (AforL)<\/li>\n<li>Flipgrid practice (AforL)<\/li>\n<li>Self-assessment (AasL)<\/li>\n<li>Harkness-inspired discussion (AofL)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Overall thoughts on the Harkness tables from students:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Things which went well<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>being able to prepare and to loosely refer to my notes<\/li>\n<li>during the peer-assessment, the listener knew what to look out for<\/li>\n<li>self-tracking kept me on track because I knew what the teacher was looking for; it wasn&#8217;t a surprise<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Things to be improved<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u201cWe need the skill to build on other people&#8217;s\u00a0 ideas\u2026we don&#8217;t know where the conversation is going to take us.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIf we always have to invite someone to speak, it\u2019s difficult for someone who has an important point to jump in.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>self-tracking: kept on forgetting to check it off; wanted to follow the conversation instead<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>End-of-year reflections from senior French students (FSF3U, FSF4U, FEF4U) 2017-2018:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What are two things that you learned that will help you in the future (not necessarily related to French language\/culture specifically)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Group conversations<\/li>\n<li>My oral speaking skills are better than they were at the beginning of the year in terms of everyday conversations.<\/li>\n<li>How to have active conversations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What are you most proud of accomplishing this year in French class?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I am proud that I improved my French speaking in the Harkness tables and daily group discussions.<\/li>\n<li>I am proud of how much my oral capabilities have developed.<\/li>\n<li>When I think back to the beginning of this year, I felt very shy and thought that no one could understand what I was saying. Now, especially after our Harkness Table, not only do I think others can understand most of what I am saying, but I speak much more often with a louder and more confident voice. This is not only important in this course, but in all subjects and life in general.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I would recommend this course to someone who\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>would like to further develop their speaking abilities<\/li>\n<li>wants to further their knowledge in French in order to allow themselves to speak it proficiently and effectively in a conversational way<\/li>\n<li>is good at written French, but wants to get better at conversational French<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019m looking forward to implementing these strategies again this year and revisiting approaches for current events discussions.<\/p>\n<p><em>How do you use Flipgrid in your classroom?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This year, I added another element to prepare for the Harkness-inspired discussions that we had in class.
