{"id":113,"date":"2014-04-21T19:11:35","date_gmt":"2014-04-21T19:11:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/timrollwagen\/?p=113"},"modified":"2014-04-21T21:27:28","modified_gmt":"2014-04-21T21:27:28","slug":"final-thoughts-but-really-just-the-beginning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/timrollwagen\/2014\/04\/21\/final-thoughts-but-really-just-the-beginning\/","title":{"rendered":"Final thoughts, but really just the beginning."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>It&#8217;s over already!?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hard to believe the Cohort 21 experience is coming to an end. \u00a0Through cohort 21, I have explored, reflected, redesigned, and pushed myself to think outside the box in my classroom. \u00a0There is no doubt in my mind, that Cohort 21 has been the greatest professional development opportunity I have had so far.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My Action Plan &#8211; Exploring the <a title=\"SAMR\" href=\"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/timrollwagen\/2013\/12\/11\/the-digital-era-of-teaching-action-planning-with-samr\/\">SAMR<\/a> model through a dissection and the ThingLink tool.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[youtube]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rcloV4TF-FY[\/youtube]<\/p>\n<p>Below is an embedded <a title=\"ThingLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thinglink.com\/\">ThingLink<\/a> photo describing some\u00a0thoughts on my Action Plan (Included in the video above).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alwaysThinglink\" src=\"\/\/cdn.thinglink.me\/api\/image\/514814743899275266\/1024\/10\/scaletowidth#tl-514814743899275266;1043138249\" alt=\"\" width=\"549\" height=\"732\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Cohort 21 Experience<\/strong>: (<a title=\"Cohort 21 Presentation\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/1lPZOt7aLjSpmTAPjCEloUvClHhcaonSseqUT16HQjI0\/edit?usp=sharing\">https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/1lPZOt7aLjSpmTAPjCEloUvClHhcaonSseqUT16HQjI0\/edit?usp=sharing<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Community:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Like-minded individuals who value education, learning, and teaching. \u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>The Cohort 21 professional learning community is an invaluable resource for conversion, reflection, new ideas, and motivation<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Our Face-2-Face sessions were inspiring and enjoyable. \u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reflection:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>The blogging format forces you to reflect on your practices, start conversations, and share ideas in a public format.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Reflection has pushed me to ask the right questions to analyze my teaching.\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Challenges:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>As per many endeavours, time is the ultimate challenge. \u00a0With family, work, and other life events, it was difficult to properly carve the time out of your schedule to blog\/reflect\/share regularly. \u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>I found it difficult to always be critical of my own ideas. \u00a0Sometimes it took conversations with others to really get down to the root of problems that arose throughout the action planning process.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Final Thoughts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><i>One of the most important take aways of Cohort 21 is the amazing group of people that are now part of your learning community. \u00a0Through this process I have become a more reflective and collaborative teacher. \u00a0Though overwhelming at first, Cohort 21 pushes you out of your comfort zone and opens your mind to lifelong learning.
