{"id":192,"date":"2013-02-07T03:12:16","date_gmt":"2013-02-07T03:12:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/shelleythomas\/?p=192"},"modified":"2015-09-08T21:31:03","modified_gmt":"2015-09-08T21:31:03","slug":"next-steps-third-f2f-at-the-st-clements-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/shelleythomas\/2013\/02\/07\/next-steps-third-f2f-at-the-st-clements-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Next Steps: Third F2F at St. Clement&#8217;s School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to members of Cohort 21 for another inspired day of instruction and support.\u00a0 The breakout sessions were robust and I enjoyed learning about the various action plans presently underway in our schools.\u00a0 Thanks to Adam Caplan and \u00a0<a title=\"St. Clement's School\" href=\"http:\/\/www.scs.on.ca\" target=\"_blank\">St. Clement\u2019s School<\/a> for hosting our third F2F session.\u00a0 Thanks, also, to Garth Nichols (<a title=\"Greenwood College School\" href=\"https:\/\/www.greenwoodcollege.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\">Greenwood College\u00a0School<\/a>) and Justin Medved (<a title=\"The York School\" href=\"http:\/\/www.yorkschool.com\" target=\"_blank\">The York School<\/a>) for their continued leadership and organization and for extending the opportunity to facilitate the Action Plan Support Group &#8220;Breakout&#8221; session. \u00a0Our group had fun using\u00a0<a title=\"Padlet\" href=\"http:\/\/padlet.com\" target=\"_blank\">Padlet<\/a>\u00a0to share and exchange resources and strategies re. our individual action plans. \u00a0The second half of the session provided an insight into the roles \u00a0<a title=\"Coursera\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\" target=\"_blank\">Coursera<\/a>, <a title=\"MOOC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eW3gMGqcZQc\" target=\"_blank\">MOOCs<\/a>, and <a title=\"Scale-Free Schools\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tgy4LKZ-LOs\" target=\"_blank\">Scale-Free Schools<\/a> play in driving discussion about the future of education and learning. \u00a0All in all, a productive day of enrichment.<\/p>\n<p>Take Aways and Applications:<\/p>\n<p>My action plan is well underway and what first began as a singular class experiment, is now a grade-wide project. \u00a0Colleagues in the English department are onboard and all ENG4U classes are participating in this curriculum design project.\u00a0 Students have been sharing ideas across course sections and are already involving parents and siblings in some of the discussion and debate.<\/p>\n<p>Next steps will involve setting up individual student blogs (WordPress) via <a title=\"WhippleHill\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whipplehill.com\" target=\"_blank\">WhippleHill<\/a>, our Student Information System (SIS).\u00a0 Students and teachers will access and contribute to each other&#8217;s blogs on class home pages.\u00a0 As the project continues to evolve, these blogs will be made public. \u00a0It is our hope that at that time, other schools will contribute, comment, and participate by adding their voices to this discussion about the future of education.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, classes hope to gather research on personalized learning, curriculum design and implementation.\u00a0 We could use some guidance here as we are hoping to pull from a diverse range of resources.\u00a0 We are presently sifting through the various resources available via Cohort 21, <a title=\"Cohort 21 Member Blogs\" href=\"http:\/\/cohort21.com\/blogs\/\" target=\"_blank\">member blogs<\/a>, and Diigo posts.\u00a0 We welcome other ideas, too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to members of Cohort 21 for another inspired day of instruction and support.\u00a0 The breakout sessions were robust and I enjoyed learning about the various action plans presently underway in our schools.\u00a0 Thanks to Adam Caplan and \u00a0St. Clement\u2019s School for hosting our third F2F session.\u00a0 Thanks, also, to Garth Nichols (Greenwood College\u00a0School) and &hellip;
