Anyone else feel like life would just be so much easier if you could just clone yourself? Or would our lists of things to do just double?<\/p>\n

In my first blog <\/a> I wrote about wanting to connect with classroom teachers. I received some great advice, including starting small and then showcasing the amazing creations with staff. It was shocking how I found this straightforward task a little daunting. Putting myself out there with another teacher to try and work towards a joint objective. Would anyone be interested? Would I be offending anyone? I think part of me is afraid that what I hope to achieve or explore is not as important or relevant to others as it is to me.<\/p>\n

What does research currently look like in the classroom? Am I being really judgemental of current practices that are working for teachers and students? I think I might have a skewed view of it (research) because often what I see in the library is simple fact finding – and primarily with print resources. Who I am to say there\u2019s a better way to do it? Do I even know what that better way is? I\u2019m embarrassed to say, that I don\u2019t really know the answer to that. I do have an idea of what it looks like. I\u2019ve seen some great lessons online, but I\u2019ve never really done it in practice\u2026 yet. <\/p>\n

So where do I go from here?<\/p>\n

How might we connect and collaborate with teachers to foster inquiry-based research.<\/p>\n

Connect with some C21 folks who know more than I do
\n(Thinking this will get taken care of on Friday)<\/p>\n

Have more conversations with my staff about what research looks like in the classroom – (I have already made a few connections with teachers who are open to exploring new ways of doing research)<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not going to lie, I\u2019ve gone back and forth a thousand times as to whether I wanted this to be my focus. I feel like there are a number of challenges that I am currently facing and wanting to work on in the Library.<\/p>\n

Here are a few HMW that I\u2019ve been thinking of:<\/p>\n

How might we connect each child to a book he\/she will love
\nHow might we integrate more technology into the library
\nHow might we transform the physical library space (new furniture, configurations, technology, etc.)
\nHow might we utilize our library system (Destiny) better
\nHow might we create a reading support program for students beginning to read
\nHow might we create a summer reading program to encourage students to read over the summer <\/p>\n

This is why I need a clone.
\nOh, I should clarify that these are some of the things I want to focus on for our Lower School (approximately 500 students). I am also responsible for our Upper School (200 students) whose library program is pretty much non-existent, of which I feel guilty about every single day.
