I’ve played with coding clubs a bit at the high school level, but I have had more success with embedding programming into math class. I totally hear you on the stereotype piece. As a Guidance Counselor, I have a hard time selling the Computer Science courses to students, whereas to me it’s a no-brainer. Coding is a skill that everyone is going to need to be marketable as an employee in the future. I’m glad to hear that teachers like you and @tchambers and @aruston are…Read more

Hey Tia,
How is your plan going so far? I’m curious to hear what apps you have introduced to the Math club and how they were received.

In the meantime, you might want to check out the work that Aaron @aruston and Adam @agregson are doing in their classes — there are a lot of connections between your plans.

Hope all is well!

Hey Kyle,
What a great action plan! I think one aspect to explore while perusing the research would be to explore ways in which to maximize the concept of TPACK in your teaching. Do the girls in your class respond better to different pedagogical approaches? Do they enjoy driving their learning? Perhaps they’re looking to solve a real-world…Read more
