I was surprised! I fought it, but blogging did help we clarify my thinking regarding my Action Plan. It also helped me clarify my language for those reading my goal. So, with a renewed energy from our 3rd F2F, here is my refreshed Action Plan….<\/p>\n <\/p>\n How might we\u00a0increase quality physical activity time at school for Grade 5 on non-activity days (i.e. no P.E. in timetable)?<\/p>\n Real reason for this Action Plan: We have P.E for Grade 5s on Mondays and Fridays with occasional House Games. Pool is on a Thursday. Grade 5 loses P.E on long weekend and sometimes for special event. There needs to be another option for quality activity at school outside of these times. Ideally, there would be QDPE (Quality<\/strong> Daily Physical Activity).<\/p>\n The plan: Grade 5s will don a pedometer on Wednesdays each week when they arrive to school. They will wear it for the whole day and record their step count and return the pedometer at the end of the school day.<\/p>\n What is activity? It is not just steps. Steps are accumulated when you move your feet. Activity can be through games, dance, recess, moving from class to class, etc. Weekly challenges will be set to encourage students to increase their Wednesday step count.<\/p>\n How will students be engaged? Eventually, the Grade 5s will break into small groups to develop challenges for the class\u00a0to meet in order to increase their step count.<\/p>\n Connection will come through co-constructing the Challenges. As well, classroom teachers will be supplied with some activity blasts that they may choose to use in their classrooms as a means to refocus their classes, and in doing, increase student step count (ha!).<\/span><\/p>\n I am really excited about moving forward with this Action Plan, especially with the feedback I have received from this F2F today!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I was surprised!
