What impact has this had on you? For me, it has pressurized my wellbeing, in that work continues to expand throughout the day. I count myself very fortunate in that my work, my day-to-day fills me up; but that being said, I was drained come Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Here are three resources I\u2019ve loved this week that inspired me, motivated me and kept me thinking:<\/p>\n<h5>1) Dr. Greg Wells Podcast with Dan Prontefract: \u201cLeading through Adversity:<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/anchor.fm\/dr-greg-wells\/episodes\/77--Dan-Pontefract-on-Leading-through-Adversity-eco4bf\">CLICK HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have worked with both Dan and Greg in different ways. He brings with him a world of\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1.6rem;\">experience in what distance does to business and relationships. With Dr. Greg Wells, I have read and reviewed his books \u201cThe Ripple Effect\u201d and \u201c<\/span><a style=\"font-size: 1.6rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/garthnichols\/21st-century-skills\/book-review-the-focus-effect-by-greg-wells-bruce-bowser\/\">The Focus Effect<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1.6rem;\">\u201d <\/span>In this conversation, they explore their personal pivots and pivots that business can\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1.6rem;\">and should make to serve the greater purpose. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.6rem;\">In particular, Dan speaks of three main purposes:\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n* <strong>Personal Purpose:<\/strong> who am I, what do I believe in, and how do I want to be knownwhen I leave a room<br \/>\n* <strong>Organizational Purpose:<\/strong> why are we here, what are we doing to help society, how are we\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1.6rem;\">contributing, and how can we enact \u2018long-termism\u201d (or as Simon Sinek says, \u201cplaying the Infinite Game\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span>* <strong>Role Purpose:<\/strong> known what we are doing, how we are adding value at our place of work.<\/p>\n<p>If we don\u2019t take care of these roles, and showing them how they have something to contribute to the organization purpose, and how this might fee their personal purpose, then we lose the opportunity to pivot our work to a greater purpose.<\/p>\n<h4>2) Future Resilience #10 \u2013 Story-Telling<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/notosh\/future-resilience-10-story-telling-df113783f68e\">CLICK HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This article, which I read off of Medium, is a powerful reminder of the \u2018narrative\u2019. <a href=\"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/garthnichols\/files\/2020\/04\/Screen-Shot-2020-04-18-at-9.16.05-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-781 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/garthnichols\/files\/2020\/04\/Screen-Shot-2020-04-18-at-9.16.05-AM-300x173.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/garthnichols\/files\/2020\/04\/Screen-Shot-2020-04-18-at-9.16.05-AM-300x173.png 300w, https:\/\/cohort21.com\/garthnichols\/files\/2020\/04\/Screen-Shot-2020-04-18-at-9.16.05-AM-1024x592.png 1024w, https:\/\/cohort21.com\/garthnichols\/files\/2020\/04\/Screen-Shot-2020-04-18-at-9.16.05-AM-768x444.png 768w, https:\/\/cohort21.com\/garthnichols\/files\/2020\/04\/Screen-Shot-2020-04-18-at-9.16.05-AM-620x358.png 620w, https:\/\/cohort21.com\/garthnichols\/files\/2020\/04\/Screen-Shot-2020-04-18-at-9.16.05-AM.png 1402w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> The narrative that we tell ourselves, and the narratives that we weave into the lives of others.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h6 id=\"e9ae\" class=\"ht hu dt ar aq hv dv hw dx hx hy hz ia ib ic id ie\">Stories are the metaphorical hug of connection and relationship. It\u2019s the way we see our place in the world and our place in the world of others. To tell our stories is to help others see how they might connect with us.<\/h6>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>What is the story that you are telling yourself? How is it changing? How is the narrative of your school\/place of work changing, and how are you supporting the writing and telling of that story?<\/p>\n<h4>3) A New Reality: Getting Remote Learning Right<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/images.magnetmail.net\/images\/clients\/ASCD\/\/attach\/EL_Special_Report_April_15_2020.pdf\">CLICK HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Put out by Educational Leadership, this serves as a highly digestible round up from lead thinkers and practitioners. This is a resource that you can skim through, or read in depth.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of things jumped out at me:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A staple of any online course is discussion, and a good online discussion can be a great way to build community and communication skills.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers who serve students with learning differences are being forced to build new skills in supporting families and students online.<\/p>\n<p>When we transitioned to online learning, it was a stressful time and I didn\u2019t know how I\u2019d handle the volume of work while also managing homeschooling for my two children.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>These reminded me that challenges abound, perspective taking is key in times when you are getting overwhelmed, and that it is important to understand that even as we become more practiced in the emergency learning planning, there are still many unknowns to navigate, complexities unfolding all around us, but also a wealth of resources and \u2018tribes\u2019 to get us through.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great week ahead!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week has been an interesting one \u2013 with the long weekend it\u2019s the back half of two short weeks in a row.
