\u00a0Guiding Question for Inquiry and Action Plan<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

How might we develop financially literate students who gain a new respect for\u00a0 \u00a0and resilience towards all matter\u2019s money?<\/p>\n

The Process<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Connected the inquiry to a school sponsored math action research and piloted a classroom economy program with a Grade 5 focus.<\/li>\n
  2. Included phased qualitative data from the students and families.<\/li>\n
  3. Created adaptable long term plans to teach a financial literacy focus theme 3 times a term, with themes from what money is, the history of money, how money is used in our day to day lives, the idea of giving back, and the idea of making your money grow.<\/li>\n
  4. Conducted research on the impact of teaching Financial Literacy from a young age, and connecting to building resilience in our students.<\/li>\n
  5. Shared professional development and learning with BVG Lower School staff.\u00a0 \u00a0See attached presentation:\u00a0Financial Literacy Staff Meeting<\/a><\/li>\n
  6. Continued review, research, and reflection to make this a part of Grade 5 life, and beyond!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Takeaways:<\/p>\n

    The experience has highlighted how motivating real life application of learning can be. Students have shown evidenced growth and approached the classroom economy and financial literacy focuses with genuine curiosity and interest! Investment was high!<\/p>\n
