Today I find myself in a room at The York School full of innovative educators and thought leaders.  It is hard to contain my excitement about being part of @Cohort21.  Although I am still undecided about my action plan, the ideas are brewing with every conversation I have.

What draws me to the teaching profession is the learning process. Being in the classroom with students and being a student myself brings me great joy. I feel like a sponge ready to soak up every drop of this experience.  Emily Dickinson’s poem, “the Brain,” captures some of the wonder and excitement that I feel today.

Wishing everyone at Cohort 21 a wonderful experience and I look forward to connecting with you all.

Here is the poem in case you are interested:

The Brain—is wider than the Sky—

The Brain—is wider than the Sky—
For—put them side by side—
The one the other will contain
With ease—and You—beside—

The Brain is deeper than the sea—
For—hold them—Blue to Blue—
The one the other will absorb—
As Sponges—Buckets—do—

The Brain is just the weight of God—
For—Heft them—Pound for Pound—
And they will differ—if they do—
As Syllable from Sound—

Emily Dickinson
