Taking action …

As I move into the world of personalised learning I will be providing my students with choices to allow them to work at their own place, in their own space. I will explore Google Hangouts, Google Moderator and a variety of other tools in the Google pack.  I will continue to explore different educational technologies that allow students to collaborate, and create exciting evidence of learning. I will create videos that allow my students to review the material on their own time, allowing them to review and revise as needed.

I am and will continue to incorporate different personalized learning strategies in my courses, and I am aiming to blog about what is happening in my courses at least every two weeks. So stay tuned for some funny anecdotal student comments!

Once all is said and done, I hope to create a documentary style film that will chronicle the beginnings of what will be an exciting jolt into what has already been an exciting career.

    It was great to see you this weekend, and I think that you’ll find Google apps very interesting indeed. I strongly suggest that you start with the “chrome store”. If you are not already using Chrome, download that as your browser, and then you’ll get to the store. In there you will find some excellent tools and great ideas to help leverage technology to manage, promote and innovate student learning.

    For example, there is a Harkness app that allows you keep track of discussions in a really innovative and efficient way. Just checking the app out will teach you more about Harkness. With the open content nature of French, you may want to explore this as a way of differentiating your approach in the classroom.

  2. Derek – As you continue your exciting career in education (which I have witnessed first-hand!),I applaud your exploration into a personalized learning model for your students. I am curious to observe the outcome of this project; as students become more engaged in the process are they becoming better learners? And, at the end of the day, what is their comfort zone around taking ownership of their learning?
