But not a real plan. \u00a0Yet.<\/p>\n<p>Feedback.<\/p>\n<p>It may as well be my achilles heel, my hamartia and my damocles sword all rolled into one. \u00a0 Feedback nags to the English teacher. \u00a0Feedback can&#8217;t be ignored. \u00a0Feedback demands to be heard. \u00a0Feedback knows its importance and never misses a chance to remind us. \u00a0When I take in yet another essay, accept another summative or ask for just one more metacognitive response, feedback winks at me obnoxiously. \u00a0When a student arrives at my desk, \u00a0 wondering if I have marked her essay yet, feedback is standing there, arms crossed, looking VERY unimpressed. \u00a0Every night that my exploding, overflowing marking bag arrives home, feedback tags along, always asking \u00a0for an extra blanket, fresh mints on her pillow or a spot at the head of the table. \u00a0Feedback is the house guest that has clearly overstayed her welcome. \u00a0 With all that being said, I recently read an article on the principles of good feedback and it resonated with me. \u00a0It really is the backbone of my action research plan.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00a0 Learners need endless feedback more than they need endless teaching.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-26 alignleft\" style=\"line-height: 1.5em\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-01-20 at 8.19.36 PM\" src=\"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/danielleganley\/files\/2014\/01\/Screen-Shot-2014-01-20-at-8.19.36-PM-152x200.png\" width=\"152\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/danielleganley\/files\/2014\/01\/Screen-Shot-2014-01-20-at-8.19.36-PM-152x200.png 152w, https:\/\/cohort21.com\/danielleganley\/files\/2014\/01\/Screen-Shot-2014-01-20-at-8.19.36-PM-76x100.png 76w, https:\/\/cohort21.com\/danielleganley\/files\/2014\/01\/Screen-Shot-2014-01-20-at-8.19.36-PM.png 409w\" sizes=\"auto, (min-width: 960px) 75vw, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What wil<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">l that look like? \u00a0Endless feedback? \u00a0Can my poor pink pens take it? \u00a0Will my family be forced to order pizza yet again as I struggle under the weight of more essays? \u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5em\"> I want to explore how my feedback can become more timely, specific and targeted. \u00a0 Can I find a way to be more effective, provide more feedback but without so much sacrifice? \u00a0I&#8217;m going to try!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What might it look like?<\/p>\n<p>-Timely feedback with the use of technology such as google drive, kaizena, and socrative<\/p>\n<p>-Peer reviews and a feedback process among my students<\/p>\n<p>-Feedback that is kind, quick, specific and helpful<\/p>\n<p>-Developing key elements of excellence so students know where the targets are<\/p>\n<p>And that is why I&#8217;m fluffing the pillows, putting out the best china and inviting feedback for good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the time ticks away on this action plan blog post, I sit in front of my computer with an idea. \u00a0Not a plan really just yet. \u00a0Just a simmering in the back of my mind for a long time, nagging, can&#8217;t be ignored for too much longer, slowly percolating \u00a0idea.
