I change my mind every hour, each time I am faced with a new daily challenge; grade 7\u2019s need to move more, grade 9\u2019s need more structure, I\u2019m running across the school in heels, grade 11\u2019s, why can\u2019t you just be on time? But there is one central concept that all of my ideas and challenges rela<a href=\"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/andrealeacock\/files\/2017\/11\/balance-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-48 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/andrealeacock\/files\/2017\/11\/balance-2-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cohort21.com\/andrealeacock\/files\/2017\/11\/balance-2-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cohort21.com\/andrealeacock\/files\/2017\/11\/balance-2.jpg 672w\" sizes=\"auto, (min-width: 960px) 75vw, 100vw\" \/><\/a>te to:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">balance. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Powerpoint and notesheet, the classic lesson&#8230; We have all been there. I\u2019ll stand at the front of the class and talk as student\u2019s record the information I am blurting out on the \u201cfun\u201d graphic organizer I have given them. I\u2019ll even mix it up a little and add in a YouTube Clip for my visual learners and BAM! I did it! Perfect lesson with balance for all types of learners, right? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">WRONG. I am bored just reading this. Each day, I am trying to change these lessons into more innovative and engaging ones, trying to put the focus on the student and find engaging ways for students to discover the material on their own. HOWEVER, I then get stuck when I go to change the last lesson in the unit. If they don\u2019t have some classic, traditional lessons in their day, how am I preparing them for university or post secondary education? Am I??\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This brings me to my goal: how might we best blend our new and innovative ways of teaching with the tradition of the classroom? How can we find the balance so many of us crave?
