Face to Face 23rd January 2015 – next steps

They all have a piece that will fit, but only one can be used….

I came to the session with one question, and left with many.

What are my next steps? On a practical level, my problem was to find a program or app that would allow my students to truly collaborate in creating and printing the front page of a newspaper, so my next steps, practically speaking, are to explore the programs suggested to me by Brent and Justin: google slides and wikispaces. On a more philosophical level, to think deeper about why we practice collaborative learning in the classroom and what we can realistically hope to achieve.

What will I publish next? My list of unanswered and probably unanswerable questions about collaborative work.

How will I present my findings? As an anecdotal narrative blog post.

  1. Yesssss!

The day was a success (in my opinion) if people leave with more questions than they came with. It would be so easy to just leave with the name of a good app, but really we could get that from a quick Google search. The power of these F2F meetings is the power of the unexpected.

Thanks for being so open and willing to be pushed on Saturday. It was great to see you and work with you!

  2. Patti,

it was great to see you at the F2F and it’s great that you’re leaving with so many questions too. I share @celeste’s enthusiasm! I would try, however, push you into action by asking you ‘what does collaboration look like in you classroom, and your school as a whole?’ Then see if that needs to change, or can be tweaked and enhanced through these collaborative tools.

I look forward to hearing more from you!
