Let the adventure begin!

a_new_adventure1Cohort 21 Day 1 – It was a cold and dark morning, the car windshield was frosty and the sun was only just starting to think about shining its face onto the horizon. The car was filled with excitement, nervousness and intrigue as we traveled down the 115 to the 401 from the little village of Lakefield to the big city of Toronto. This is how I started my day, I have completed my first Cohort21 Face-to-face.

Here is what I took away as I drove back to my little village.

  • I now know how to Tweet and the difference between a # and @
  •  I can ‘hang out’ with other educators in various locations while wearing a monocle, birthday hat or crown while we connect on all things in education
  • The power of conversation and the excitement I feel when I’m a part of meaningful PD sessions.   While I feel overwhelmed I’m also excited to incorporate some (not all!) of the things that came forward through conversations with strangers (now collaborators!)
  • I’m excited to blog and be forced (at my own will!) to stay on top of current educational practices and write about how things are working or not working in my teaching
  • While not a new observation, I’m reminded at how competitive teachers can be even in a simple game of Kahoot

I’m excited and a little nervous to be a part of this process, but I look forward to making my teaching practices more of a priority as I know I have so much growth and learning to do.

And the adventure begins….
